My Take on Abortion

Let me start off by stating that my position on abortion is that I am against it. I will provide my reasoning for my position in this post. There are basically two main two schools of thought that separate the people that are for abortion and those who are against it.

Those individuals that are for abortion believes the following two points: 1) life starts when a baby is born and not at conception; 2) abortion is a woman's health issue thus making it a woman's choice issue. On the contrary side, those of us who are against abortion believe the opposite. Let me try to put this into perspective.

Regarding the first point as to when life begins, here are some things to think about. The baby starts forming and looking like a person shortly after conception. This can easily be seen in sonograms. Also, the baby's heart starts beating within two weeks after conception. Those individuals that are for abortion attempt to "soften" the dialog by calling the unborn baby a "fetus", which is simply a scientific term used in medicine that means "unborn baby". Keep in mind that when a woman goes in for a medical check during pregnancy and shows you the sonogram picture, the doctor does NOT say "oh look at your beautiful fetus". The doctor says "take a look at your beautiful baby". There is a reason for that.

Regarding the second point that being pregnant is a woman's health issue thus justifying a choice to abort her baby, to a point this is correct. It is a woman's health issue, but not a justification to abort the baby. You are not removing a mole or a tumor from your body; you are removing and killing your baby. From what I have seen, abortion is rarely a decision based on a woman's health. The decision is usually based on financial or social reasons. The baby is not wanted because they can't afford it or they don't want to be bothered with having to raise the baby due to cutting into their social life. If you think that those are good reasons to kill and abort your baby, I feel sad for you. Remember, your mother didn't abort you. And there are plenty of people out there that cannot have children that would be more than willing to adopt yours.

Some lawmakers in the past have tried to pass laws requiring that a mother to have an ultrasound and see the sonogram before going through an abortion. But there has been so many people fight this legislation. I have to ask, what are you afraid of? Are you afraid that the mother may change her mind and not go through the abortion? Are you afraid that you will lose the fee paid to you for not performing the abortion? I don't get it. There is not one reason whatsoever for not passing this law.

I know this is going to be a very controversial post, but it is something on my mind and I had to provide my two cents on the subject. All I ask is that those of you who believe in abortion, please think about what you are doing.
