The Goose and the Gander

I am sure that you have heard the quote "what is good for the goose is good for the gander". Well have I got an eye opener for you today that just trashes the message of this quote. As you know the message of the quote is a message of fairness. Well let me tell you something that has been happening for a long time that just makes my blood boil.

Did you know that the lawmakers in Congress exempt themselves in many of the laws they pass - especially the bad ones? That is a fact! They pass laws that they don't have to follow. The recent healthcare law is a good example. In addition, they often exempt certain groups in these laws as well, especially if the group contributed to their campaign. Again, the recent healthcare law is a good example of certain groups being exempt. One way they hide this activity is that they may not write the exemptions specifically in the law, but give the power to exempt special groups and people to someone, usually the executive branch. Then the exemptions are given by regulation or executive order. It is unfair any way you look at it!

I don't have an easy fix for this problem. Personally, I think the only way to fix this is to have a constitutional amendment that states all laws passed must be followed by 100% of the population - no exemptions.
